Working to Improve Air Quality
Concho continually monitors and manages greenhouse gas (GHG) and other emissions from our operations. We have installed emission control and gas capture equipment at facilities that account for more than an estimated 85% of our production. In addition, we have invested an estimated $45 million gross in emission control equipment, including vapor recovery towers, vapor recovery units, combustors, flares, lease automatic custody transfer units and closed vent systems for tank batteries. This investment has reduced methane and volatile organic compounds (VOC) from crude oil production and storage at each of our facilities.
Transporting production by pipeline is not only efficient, but helps us reduce emissions and our reliance on trucks for transportation of our crude oil production. Our efforts to transition crude oil production from trucks to pipeline have been particularly successful. Companywide, we have approximately 85% of our crude oil production transported via pipeline.
